How to choose a web design company in Dehradun

A website is paid for once and lived with for years. These are the questions that separate a studio that will hand you a working asset from one that will hand you a login you cannot use.

Start with who will actually do the work

Many agencies sell the job and send it to a freelancer you never meet. That is not automatically bad, but you should know. Ask who designs, who writes the code, and who you call when something breaks at 9 pm.

Ask to speak to the person responsible for your project, not only the salesperson.

The ten questions

  • Do I own the domain, hosting account and source files from day one? The answer must be yes, in writing.
  • Will I get a written quote with scope, timeline and what is excluded? A number over the phone is not a quote.
  • How many rounds of design changes are included before extra charges begin?
  • Will the site be mobile-first? Check their previous sites on your own phone, not on their laptop.
  • Which platform will you use (WordPress, Joomla, custom) and why is it right for my business?
  • Can I edit text and images myself after launch, without calling you?
  • What is included for SEO: titles, descriptions, sitemap, schema, speed? Or is it a paid add-on?
  • Who handles security updates and backups after launch, and what does that cost per year?
  • Can I see live sites you built that are still online and working, and speak to one of those clients?
  • What happens if I want to leave? Will you hand over everything without a fight?

Red flags

  • A price far below everyone else with no scope written down — extras appear later.
  • Guaranteed first-page Google ranking. Nobody controls Google; honest studios promise good groundwork, not positions.
  • The domain or hosting is registered in the agency's name instead of yours.
  • A site built from a pirated or nulled theme. It often ships with hidden malware and cannot be updated safely.
  • No physical address or landline anywhere on their own website.

What a fair quote looks like

A good quote lists the pages, features, number of design revisions, timeline, what you must supply (text, logo, photos), the yearly running cost (domain, hosting, maintenance) and the payment stages. If any of these is missing, ask for it before paying an advance.

For rough planning, a one-page site, a 5–10 page business website and an online store sit in very different budget bands — see our page on website development cost in Dehradun.

Local matters, but not for the reason people think

A Dehradun studio can meet you, see your shop or clinic, and understand your customers in Uttarakhand — that is the real advantage. It does not mean the work is better, so judge by the questions above and by live results.

Frequently asked questions

Should I choose the cheapest web designer?

Not on price alone. Compare scope, ownership of files and domain, support after launch and the yearly running cost. A cheap site that cannot be updated or is held hostage costs more later.

Is a freelancer better than an agency?

Either can be good. A freelancer is cheaper but is one person; a studio has backup if someone is unavailable. What matters is written scope, ownership and support.

How do I check a web designer's past work?

Open their live client sites on your phone, test speed and forms, and ask for a client you can phone. Screenshots in a portfolio prove nothing.
